Goalposts Testing in Newtons explained
Football Goalpost testing is done using Newtons not kilo weight as shown in come safety videos. Density is the measurement of an object’s mass per unit of volume. In order to calculate the density of an object, these two quantities must be known. A common misconception is that mass and weight are equivalent. Weight is an object’s mass multiplied by the force of gravity. Density is calculated independent of gravity. In order to obtain an object’s density, you must perform a few simple measurements and conversions.
Measure the object’s weight on a scale. If you are able to obtain mass directly, there is no need to measure weight. Record the object’s weight. The standard unit for weight measurements is the newton, which is equivalent to 1 kg m/s^2 (m/s^2 represents acceleration; a newton is the expression of force, or mass times acceleration). Divide the weight by the force of gravity at its location. For most calculations on Earth, this can be approximated to be 9.8 m/s^2 worldwide. The result is the object’s mass, in kilograms. If you will be calculating density in grams per cubic centimeter, record the mass in grams by multiplying the kilogram value by 1,000.the current testing of goalposts is 300N for goals under 18Kg 800n for children’s goals & 1800N for larger children’s goalposts 1800 N for adult goals.
